This was my first effort at creating an album of songs, after I was saved in

1981. I had no money to spend on

recording equipment really, and this

was well before the technology that

is available now to young artists

had been developed.

I really do wish that I could have

recorded the material in a more professional way (I was using two

cassette tape recorders to bounce tracks back and forth to execute the ideas). So there were lots of problems with noise

and pitch fluctuations. But, I kept at it,

and because these recordings are so rough, I called the series (1984–1998) Sketches.
