2019
Sean Korakas was the guy Spectrum sent out to replace one of our
cable TV boxes. He saw my studio and it sparked a conversation about music.
Turns out I ended up recording him and playing on two of his original songs. He was pretty excited about it. On the first song, I taught him a harmony part which he sang over his melody. He'd not done that before, and I think that thrilled him. I was challenged at creating tracks because I hadn't picked up a guitar in over five years because of my cancer. I bought and learned how to create a virtual pedal steel part, since Sean sings country. He has the perfect voice for it too.
He was going for an album (I even created a cover using copyright-
free artwork), but had an accident at work. This set us back from our schedule and we lost momentum. I found out that my mac wasn't really powerful enough to handle the load of creating songs with many tracks. It kinda surprised me because I had done other projects of the same size, but with his second song especially, I had a latency problem I couldn't remedy. I finally had to record guitar parts and then move them in time so they were right. This turned out to be a nightmare, so I told Sean
I was sorry, but we'd have to abandon the project.
I was listening tonight to my iPod with headphones, a couple of years after we recorded, and I was surprised at how good the tracks sounded to me. Sean's genre is country and I had never actually recorded anything like that. So, I've just sent Sean a message asking his permission to post the songs here. He's agreed and so here they are.
