Mickey Jones, 2003

He is not widely known by name, I presume, but if you ever watched Tim Allen's Home Improvement, you will recognize him as the drum-

mer in the episode that a bunch of carpenters formed

a "band", and made music with their power tools.

I really liked that show. I think Mickey was in more than one episode, but that's the most memorable.

It's rare, but sometimes my  path has crossed with someone you might recognize from media, "celebrities" in quotes.

In 2003, I flew to Boulder, Colorado, to take a video class on a mac-

hine called Casablanca. Mickey Jones was in my class. He uses his Casab-

lanca to make promos, video resumes, for actors like himself. In this photo, Mickey is with the teacher, a guy called Birdy.

David Pogue, 2005

I followed him for many years as a mac guru. This shot from a conference is in that context. I loved his TV show on PBS, Making Stuff. I just looked him up, and he has a heck of a lot more out there than I ever knew. I had a book he wrote, Classical Music For Dummies, and I still have the CD. I'm not sure, but I'm think-

ing maybe he leans a little to the left, because his so called magnum opus is How To Pre-

How To Prepare For Climate Change, which I submit is a bunch of hooey. One

of Mark Levin's Life, Liberty & Levin programs has a revelatory discussion on

how this idea of climate change developed.

Ann McCutchen and Holly Mandelkern are both authors.

I talked a bit about Ann on my page about The Silvertones. Her memoir is Where's The Moon, about growing up on the Space Coast in the time of the Space Race. We shared that experience. I really liked her book. I had bought it for Kindle, but she sent me a hardback copy. I obviously have met her, since we played in the band together, but I don't remember her from that time. We were excited to be reintroduced, but I think the political

differences we have, exascerated by FB posts, made our conversations

awkward, so I think she left the platform. She has since written another book, The Liife She Wished To Live: A Biography of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, author of The Yearling.

I have not met Holly in person, but I was involved in the recording  production of some songs written by Brendan Nolan based on her poems in her book, Beneath White Stars. We've had some correspondence and she is a very gracious lady writing about a very difficult subject. I have her book on Kindle also. We've had some email exchanges and I sometimes see a Like from her on some of my FB posts.

Wayne Gurba and Chris Rossbach are both friends of mine from North Shore Community Church. When I met Wayne, he was a chemistry

teacher in the Pinellas County public schools. Chris is a renowned and long–

time pediatrician in the area. I have one photo from our church reunion with

all of us in it, but I have to find it. I have both of their books in Kindle format. Understanding Evolution is Wayne's title disputing the legitimacy of Darwin's theory. Red Dragonflies are tales of Chris's experiences as a cancer doctor.

Christine Lavin is one of the musicians

I photographed (several times) in concert. She

used a couple of my

photos in her memoir,

Cold Pizza For Breakfast. She sent me an auto-

graphed copy of the

book. I no longer have it,

so I searched the library catalog, but it's not in there. I sent her an email

yesterday, and this mor-

ning I found PDF's of all the chapters of her book. And she's replacing my missing hard copy. Isn't she gracious?

Scott Kelby was the preeminent Photoshop guru when I was first learning digital photography. He was local (Oldsmar – I applied for a job at his office once) and I ran into him several times. But he is very famous, having sold zillions of books on his Photoshop techniques. I haven't heard

much about him lately, but I haven't been looking. He's on the right in the

photo at a Mac Design Conference in 2015.
